Chesham and District Transport Users Group (CDTUG) was set up by Chesham Town Council in December 2010. Our aim is to provide a forum for rail & bus users and other interested parties about transport issues in the area, including seeking improvements to London Underground services principally to and from Chesham but also from Amersham and Chalfont & Latimer.
STEP FREE ACCESS AT AMERSHAM STATION – PUBLIC MEETING
Date: Saturday 30th January 2016, 9am-3pm
Location: Free Church, Woodside Road, Amersham
In 2009/10, London Underground began work at Amersham Station to make step-free access possible for Northbound passengers and part-way through, not only did it stop that work, but in addition it then spent extra money in removing what had been done. London Underground subsequently issued a statement in December 2014 that “We are committed to making transport as accessible as we possibly can, including an ambitious step-free access programme. This will see around 40 more Tube and Overground stations step-free by 2024, at which point more than half of our rail network will be accessible”. However, despite it having received an additional grant of £75m from HM Government over and above what was already budgeted for such works, work has not re-commenced.
We are committed to seeing this work put in hand and completed as quickly as possible and to learn more about this issue and to let us have your views, please come along. We are supported in our efforts by various disabled and mother & baby groups and with your support, we can achieve this aim.
We look forward to meeting as many people as possible.
